Our backcountry horse adventures consist of daily rides from our Hungry Creek Lodge.

 

You and your guide will travel by horseback from the Hungry Creek stable through timbered old growth forests, along pristine mountain streams, and into alpine meadows.

 

Experienced guides and veteran trail horses ensure safe and enjoyable travel through the breathtaking scenery of the Purcell Mountains.

Wild and Scenic self adventure with a competent guide.

 

Transportation, meals and tents provided. Join us on one of the area's classic hikes.

 

Mount Stevens Trail, July 2, 3 (1 night) long, difficult (total 16 km). Book this trip.

Above includes guide, horse, tack, and pickup/return to Wycliffe. Full day rides are 6-8 hours. Half day rides are 3-4 hours.

The Half Day Ride:

Hop in for the shuttle ride into the Purcell Mountains. Climbing several thousand feet to our start point, soaking up the view over the Rocky Mountain valley.

 

After a double track warm up ride, we head down the twists and turns of a Rocky Mountain descent. The ride offers trails suitable for adventurous beginners, Intermediate and Advanced riders.

After a stellar mountain descent, join your guide by the riverside for a lunch and some down time amid a mature larch forest.

 

When you are done, cool off on the river raft or inflatable kayak for an afternoon paddle on the St Mary's River.

An introduction to river running in whitewater canoes is a blast, and an excellent way to view some beautiful back country rivers.
